Sacramento opens shelters to provide respite from rain, with free RT rides available.<\/p>\n
SACRAMENTO, Calif \u2014 Sacramento has activated its respite centers to help people escape from the rain for the week.<\/p>\n
The two weather-respite centers will be opened at the Outreach and Engagement Center and the North 5th Street Navigation Center, according to city officials.<\/p>\n
The OEC is located at 3615 Auburn Boulevard. It will be in operation through 8 a.m. Thursday. The center can accommodate up to 50 guests and welcomes pets. Storage is also available for people with belongings.<\/p>\n
The Navigation Center is located at 700 North Fifth Street and is open from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Thursday. This center can accommodate 20 adults, but is not open to pets, officials said.<\/p>\n
Officials said they are actively monitoring the National Weather Service’s forecast and will extend the centers’ operations if needed.<\/p>\n
The city also advises that all libraries and community centers can be used as respite centers during their normal operating hours.<\/p>\n
SacRT is offering free rides to all centers. People would need to\u00a0show\u00a0<\/a>the flyer, either as a screenshot or a printed copy, to the driver to receive a free ride.<\/p>\n Sacramento County has activated a shelter at 1400 North A Street until 10 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n Anyone needing assistance accessing a center should call 211 or visit the website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
