A person was killed and a driver was arrested after a two-vehicle crash on state Route 67 in Poway on Saturday, California Highway Patrol officials said.<\/p>\n
The crash was reported around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on SR-67 where Rio Maria Road and Scripps Poway Parkway meet, CHP Officer Jasmine Lopez said.<\/p>\n
Witnesses said a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 39-year-old man entered the intersection while a Honda Civic \u2014 driven by a 33-year-old San Diego man \u2014 was making a left turn on a green light onto Scripps Poway Parkway, Lopez said.<\/p>\n
The SUV and sedan collided, causing fatal injuries to a woman riding as a passenger in the Honda, according to investigators. Another female passenger in the car suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver was treated for minor injuries at the scene.<\/p>\n
Officials said the Chevrolet\u2019s driver fled the scene on foot, the CHP said. He was later arrested Sunday.<\/p>\n
It is not immediately known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash, Lopez said.<\/p>\n
