The Fresno State softball team was swept by the No. 24 University of Washington Huskies, generating only one run in three games. The lone Bulldog run came in the final inning of game three of the weekend series.<\/p>\n
Senior pitcher Lauryn Carranco suffered her first two losses on the season. She started game one of the series on Friday, going all seven innings. Carranco also started the final game of the series on Saturday, but she stumbled.<\/p>\n
In her two starts, Carranco pitched 10.1 innings, gave up six runs and struck out four batters.<\/p>\n
Carranco gave up her first run of the season after Huskies first baseman Alexis DeBoer, daughter of former Fresno State football Head Coach Kalen DeBoer, launched the first pitch she saw over the right field fence.<\/p>\n
The \u2018Dogs had a chance to tie with a rally, but Huskies outfielder Gabi Toney threw out Jerzie Liana at home to preserve the Huskies\u2019 shutout.<\/p>\n
In game two, the \u2018Dogs trailed early. Freshman pitcher Alyssa Loza gave up nine runs, five of which were earned runs, in a 2.1 innings. The \u2018Dogs lost 9-0 in a five-inning mercy rule loss.<\/p>\n
In game three, the Huskies again put up a crooked number on the Bulldogs. In the fourth inning, the Huskies got out to a five-run advantage and the Bulldogs\u2019 lack of offense could not start a rally, falling 6-1 in the series finale.<\/p>\n
Over the three-game series, the \u2018Dogs were outscored 17-1 and only mustered 14 hits.<\/p>\n
