Strong winds from a thunderstorm ripped off a roof at a Fresno County fire station Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0Fresno County Battalion\u00a0Chief\u00a0Matt Mosely, a caller reported at\u00a03:30 p.m.\u00a0that a section of the station\u2019s roof had been blown off and landed in a roadway in Tranquillity.<\/p>\n
No crews were inside the fire station at the time; they were in Mendota covering another station, Mosely said.<\/p>\n
The station\u2019s garage also sustained damage.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s probably going to be a little bit of time until the roof itself gets fixed,\u201d Mosely said. \u201cIn terms of our service, it\u2019s not going to affect our response times. Our crew will still be able to fully serve the community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The\u00a0National Weather Service\u00a0in Hanford said they saw rotation at the time of the thunderstorm, but it is unclear if a funnel struck the roof.<\/p>\n
