{"id":181605,"date":"2026-02-17T16:20:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T16:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/181605\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T16:20:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T16:20:08","slug":"seeing-pink-early-this-summer-in-the-gaslamp-quarter-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/181605\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeing pink early this summer in the Gaslamp Quarter, and more\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\tOverview: Gaslamp Quarter offerings<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant\u2019s pretty design details will soon begin emerging at what used to be the Gaslamp Fish House<\/p>\n<p>A chain of upscale Dubai-based restaurants known for their permeating pink color scheme and intense floral d\u00e9cor will make its U.S. debut in the Gaslamp Quarter in early summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sayabrasseriesd\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sayabrasseriesd\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saya Brasserie Cafe<\/a> marks the spot for gold-dusted cappuccino, Greek omelets, steak bowls, and \u201ccascading cakes.\u201d \u00a0The restaurant\u2019s pretty design details will soon begin emerging at what used to be the Gaslamp Fish House at 411 Broadway.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hillcrest welcomes a new Indian restaurant<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/currynationsd.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/currynationsd.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Curry Nation<\/a>, at 3650 Fifth Ave., has completed its soft opening to rave reviews from those seeking cuisine from both northern and southern India. The indoor-outdoor restaurant took over the space previously occupied by Swami\u2019s Cafe.<\/p>\n<p>Look for coveted dishes such as kofta balls in Mughlai curry; spicy \u201cchicken 65\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spiceupthecurry.com\/shahi-paneer-recipe-restaurant-style\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shahi paneer<\/a> simmered in \u201croyal creamy gravy.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>About half the menu offers vegetarian options.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timesofsandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ALouest-coming-soon-to-North-Park-photo-taken-Jan-27-2026.jpg?ssl=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/ALouest-coming-soon-to-North-Park-photo-taken-Jan-27-2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-368600\"  \/><\/a>A\u2019L\u2019ouest is coming soon to North Park. (Photo by Frank Sabatini Jr.)<\/p>\n<p>A sight for sore eyes<\/p>\n<p>A prime piece of property that was boarded up for years at the northeast corner of University Ave. and 30th St.  in North Park is coming alive as designers prepare the building for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alouestsd.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.alouestsd.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">A\u2019L\u2019ouest<\/a> French restaurant. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Owner-chef Brad Wise of Trust Restaurant Group is behind the venture, which will transport visitors to France with a menu of beef tartare, steak frites, and other classics.<\/p>\n<p>We poked inside the expansive space and chatted with metalworkers who said most of the interior remodel should be completed in a few weeks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant is slated to open for business by mid-May.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/timesofsandiego.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Churros-by-Daria-Yakovleva.jpg?ssl=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"519\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Churros-by-Daria-Yakovleva.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-368602\"  \/><\/a>A churro challenge on Fat Tuesday (Photo by Daria Yakovleva)<\/p>\n<p>Churro mania<\/p>\n<p>How many sugar-dusted churros can you eat in two minutes and 17 seconds? \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If you can chow down a big number in that amount of time, consider entering the churro-eating competition at 7 p.m. on Tues., Feb. 17 (Fat Tuesday) at <a href=\"https:\/\/elchingon.com\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/elchingon.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">El Chingon<\/a> in the Gaslamp Quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gift cards for the restaurant will be awarded to the top three winners.
