LIHUE, Hawaii \u2013 Long Beach State closed out the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in fifth place among a very strong, 19-team field after three days of competition in Kauai. Senior Alejandro de Castro Piera<\/a> had his fourth Top 10 finish of the season, finishing the weekend three-under par.

\nSenior Jaden Huggins<\/a> had his best round of the tournament and the low score of the day for Long Beach State, using an eagle on hole two as a boost on the way to a 3-under par 67, rising 34 places to finish just outside the Top 20 in a tie for 21st.

\nAlejandro de Castro was the low scorer for the Beach for the second tournament this season, recording his fourth Top 10 finish in six tournaments in a tie for seventh place individually, holding steady with a 70 Saturday to close the tournament three-under par.

\nSenior Krishnav Chopraa was also even Saturday to close the tournament even overall, a balanced effort that saw Chopraa in the Top 20 for the third time this year. He was matched by Jack Cantlay<\/a>. Cantlay was playing as an individual and also finished the tournament even par, tied for 14th overall.

\nSteen Zeman<\/a> finished the tournament with a 74, while Norwin Gohm<\/a> had the team’s drop score with a 77.

\nThe Beach finished in fifth place among the 19-team field, ending up in front of three teams ranked in the Top 50, San Diego State, BYU and Utah. Loyola Marymount won the tournament ahead of UNLV, Texas A&M, New Mexico and Long Beach State.

\nLong Beach State will now have a break until March 9, when the team begins play in the R.E.L. Invitational in Chula Vista.
