It was a beautiful weekend in Central California, but get prepared for a series of storms in the area this week.<\/p>\n

From Tuesday to Wednesday, multiple feet of snow are forecast for Yosemite National Park, Huntington Lake and Shaver Lake. Some of the Foothill communities could get a few inches of snow as well.<\/p>\n

Expect high temperatures to remain in the 50’s all week across Central California before beginning to dry out on Friday.<\/p>\n

A rare weather report in Fresno County, as residents reported a potential tornado had ripped the roof off a fire station.<\/p>\n

Witnesses said Tuesday that they spotted a small funnel cloud touchdown in the town of Tranquility.<\/p>\n

“Rarely does one actually touch down and cause damage. But with this job, just like with the public, always got to be ready for everything. Fire Department, we’re not exempt from disasters happening, so we’ve got to respond and react,” said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Matthew Mosley.<\/p>\n

Moments after the report, pieces of the roof of Cal Fire Station 95, on West Morton Road, were sent flying in several directions, with some even landing across the street in an almond orchard.<\/p>\n

Power outages, road hazards mount as winter storm hits Central Valley<\/p>\n

Strong winds, heavy rain, and dumping snow swept across the Central Valley as a series of storms hit on Monday.<\/p>\n

A severe winter storm has brought heavy rain, strong wind gusts, and thunderstorms. Thousands saw treacherous road conditions and hundreds lost power.<\/p>\n

A lamp post was knocked over and debris was scattered on the ground at an apartment complex in Kerman.<\/p>\n

Santiago Perez lives at the complex and says he saw pieces of a metal roof fly through the air within seconds.<\/p>\n

People were in the dark in Northwest Fresno, the Tarpey Village area and Northeast Fresno, as well as in spots in the foothills near Table Mountain.<\/p>\n

Jeff Smith with PG&E says the series of storms this week increases the risk of additional outages.<\/p>\n

“The ground is going to get really saturated and once it’s saturated like that, it doesn’t take the same level of wind speed to knock trees into powerlines.”<\/p>\n

PG&E has crews on standby to respond to power issues, especially in the heavily wooded areas considered at high risk.<\/p>\n

The utility company also advises those in vulnerable areas to ensure phones are charged at all times and to keep flashlights and extra batteries handy.<\/p>\n

Rockslides force part of Highway 1 to close from San Luis Obispo County to Monterey County<\/p>\n

CalTrans has fully closed a portion of Highway 1 due to rockslides between Ragged Point Inn in San Luis Obispo County and Deetjen’s Big Sur Inn in Monterey County.<\/p>\n

There is currently no estimated time for reopening. Crews plan to check the amount of damage Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
