Tension continues to build as LA28 Chair Casey Wasserman faces pushback from L.A. city leaders \u2014 and now the mayor \u2014 as email correspondence in Epstein files surface.<\/p>\n

Casey Wasserman, the entertainment executive and sports agent, has come under considerable fire recently, as the DOJ released Wasserman\u2019s racy email conversations with convicted child sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell as part of the Epstein Files Transparency Act earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Wasserman, who serves as chairman for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics Committee, has been criticized by several local leaders and politicians, including L.A. City Councilmembers Nithya Raman and Hugo Soto-Martinez, as well as City Controller Kenneth Mejia and L.A. County Supervisor Lindsay Horvath.<\/p>\n

However, L.A. Mayor Bass refrained from commenting on this controversy<\/a> \u2014 citing the LA28 board\u2019s responsibility to handle this matter \u2014 until a recent interview with CNN on Monday in which she made it clear that she does not want Wasserman leading the LA28 Games.<\/p>\n

In her interview, Mayor Bass called the LA28 board\u2019s decision to back Wasserman as \u201cunfortunate,\u201d voicing her own criticism for how this determination was made. <\/p>\n

Reiterating that it was not her decision to make regarding the drama surrounding Wasserman and his position on the Olympics committee, Bass told CNN reporter Dana Bash, \u201cMy opinion is that he should step down. That is not the opinion of the board.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy focus has to be on preparing the city, and I will continue to do that,\u201d the mayor concluded.<\/p>\n

Last Wednesday, the LA28 board announced that after they reviewed Wasserman\u2019s conduct, he should continue on as chair of LA28<\/a>; the LA28 executive committee weighed in as well, supporting this decision and emphasizing that they took \u201callegations of misconduct seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n

All this follows Wasserman\u2019s apology, in which he expressed regret regarding his associations with Maxwell, and an announcement in which it was publicized that Wasserman would be selling his sports and entertainment company over the backlash he has received because of these email correspondences. <\/p>\n
