SPARTANS BEGIN HOMESTAND WITH AGGIES: \u00a0The San Jos\u00e9 State women\u2019s basketball team returns to the Provident Credit Union Event Center this week for two home games, beginning with Utah State on Wednesday night. Utah State won the earlier meeting, 74-61, in Logan to end 2025. This will be the final conference game between the schools. They have played each other as members of the Western Athletic Conference before both schools joined the Mountain West in 2013-14.<\/p>\n
San Jos\u00e9 State enters Wednesday\u2019s game with a 3-23 overall record and a 1-14 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans fell at Air Force, 77-61, this past Saturday. Maya Anderson<\/a> led SJSU with 16 points and six rebounds, while Amira Brown<\/a> added 15 points, including 7-of-10 from the free-throw line.<\/p>\n ABOUT UTAH STATE: \u00a0The Aggies enter Wednesday\u2019s game with a 6-18 overall record and a 2-13 mark in the conference. The team\u2019s only conference wins came in a 65-53 home win over Air Force (Dec. 17) and a 74-61 home win over the Spartans (Dec. 31). Head coach Wesley Brooks is in his second season at the helm of the program. M. ANDERSON LEADING THE SPARTANS: \u00a0Maya Anderson<\/a> leads San Jos\u00e9 State in scoring with 344 points, 13.2 per game. She has led the team in points scored in 14 games including a career-best 29 points in a win over Sacramento State. She has scored in double figures in 19 games this season.<\/p>\n Anderson also leads the team with 170 rebounds, 6.5 per game. She has led the team in boards in 13 games including the past two games – at New Mexico with 5 and at Air Force with 6.<\/p>\n NATIONAL RANKINGS: Through February 17, the Spartans rank in the top-100 nationally in four categories. UP NEXT: San Jos\u00e9 State finishes this short homestand with a Saturday afternoon game against Boise State at 2 p.m. The game can be seen on the Mountain West Network.
