If you don\u2019t mind getting out in it, the Black Joy Parade will be taking over downtown this Sunday with a parade, a music performance by M\u00fda, plus lots of Black-owned businesses to support.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that, we are mostly showcasing indoor events this week \u2014 engaging events that will shield you from the downpours forecast through mid-next week. If you like jazz, the New York Kelly Green Quartet will be playing at The Sound Room. If you are into astronomy, head up to the Chabot Space and Science Center for the immersive show \u201cAstronomica.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We want to know what kind of events you want to hear about. Through Saturday, Feb. 28, the arts organization is hosting the exhibit \u201cEl Com\u00fan: Nuestra Lucha es por la Vida.\u201d The exhibit is inspired by the <a href=\"https:\/\/hemisphericinstitute.org\/en\/su10-tourism\/item\/879-su10-brief-historical-background-zapatista-movement.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zapatista movement<\/a>, which fights to end labor exploitation and the extraction of natural resources. A<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DU2AUOqkaJw\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> poetry night will celebrate<\/a> the exhibit\u2019s final week.\u00a0<br \/> Saturday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m., free, 2277 International Blvd.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kelly Green Quartet at The Sound Room<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kellygreenpiano.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kelly Green Quartet<\/a> is transforming The Sound Room into a Greenwich Village-style jazz club for this special Oakland performance. The quarter features pianist and vocalist Kelly Green, drummer Evan Hyde, bassist Luca Soul Rosenfeld, and flautist and composer Elijah J. Thomas.\u00a0<br \/> Saturday, Feb. 21, 7:30 p.m., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/kelly-green-quartet-tickets-1978866846006\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$39.19<\/a>, The Sound Room, 3022 Broadway<\/p>\n<p>9th annual Black Joy Parade<\/p>\n<p>For the past decade, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blackjoyparade.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Black Joy Parade<\/a>, an event celebrating Black culture, has evolved from a one-day parade into a week of festivities throughout Oakland, highlighting Black artists and vendors. This year, the festival will include over 200 Black vendors selling food, clothing, handmade items, and more. Singer-songwriter M\u00fda is headlining the main stage. The parade will kick off at 12:30 p.m. on 14th Street and Broadway. The show explores the infinite beauty of the cosmos, accompanied by Hood\u2019s symphonic score.
