Tesla sales won\u2019t be suspended<\/a> in California after regulators ruled Tuesday that the electric vehicle company has stopped misleading customers about its driver assistance features. <\/p>\n

In December, the California Department of Motor Vehicles found Tesla in violation<\/a> of state law for exaggerating the capabilities of its \u201cAutopilot\u201d and \u201cFull Self-Driving\u201d technology. <\/p>\n

The technology cannot be used without an alert human driver present.<\/p>\n

The DMV threatened to suspend Tesla\u2019s dealer and manufacturer licenses in the state for 30 days if it did not correct its marketing. <\/p>\n

Since then, Tesla has stopped using the term \u201cautopilot\u201d in California and added \u201csupervised\u201d to describe its Full Self-Driving mode<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe department is pleased that Tesla took the required action to remain in compliance with the State of California\u2019s consumer protections,\u201d DMV Director Steve Gordon said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Elon Musk has long touted the abilities of Tesla\u2019s driver assistance features<\/a>, claiming for more than 10 years that a Tesla can drive itself as safely as a human. <\/p>\n

Last year, a Miami jury found Tesla partly responsible for a fatal crash involving its Autopilot system and ordered the company to pay $240 million to the victims. <\/p>\n

Also, last year, Tesla shareholders sued Musk for making \u201cmaterially false\u201d claims about Tesla\u2019s robotaxi operations<\/a> in Austin, Texas.<\/p>\n
