UW swept a three-game series at Fresno State and defeated San Jose State (6-1) and Santa Clara (13-0).<\/p>\n<p>WEEK TWO IN THE RANKINGS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Dawgs are sitting at No. 23 in the USA Softball\/ESPN.com rankings, No. 21 in D1Softball and No. 23 in Softball America&#8217;s ranking.<\/p>\n<p>Washington was ranked in the Top-25 in three of the four preseason polls. The Huskies are slotted at No. 22 in both the D1 Softball and Softball America preseason polls and No. 25 in the USA Softball\/ESPN.com preseason poll.<\/p>\n<p>After opening weekend, UW was ranked No. 24 in ESPN&#8217;s Top-25, No. 21 in D1Softball and No. 24 in Softball America&#8217;s poll.<\/p>\n<p>LAST YEAR AT MARY NUTTER<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Huskies went 3-2 in Cathedral City last season, with wins over UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara and Fresno State and losses to BYU and Cal.<\/p>\n<p>PRESEASON HYPE <br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/alexis-deboer\/16270\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16270\" target=\"_blank\">Alexis DeBoer<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/jadyn-glab\/16241\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16241\" target=\"_blank\">Jadyn Glab<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/morgan-reimer\/16272\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16272\" target=\"_blank\">Morgan Reimer<\/a> were all named to the Big Ten Players to Watch List.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/alexis-deboer\/16270\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16270\" target=\"_blank\">Alexis DeBoer<\/a> was also named to USA Softball&#8217;s Player of the Year Top 50 Watch List, as well as a D1 Softball and Softball America Preseason Second Team All-American. She was named in the Top-40 overall player rankings and Top-5 by position by both organizations.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/jadyn-glab\/16241\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16241\" target=\"_blank\">Jadyn Glab<\/a> was ranked as D1 Softball&#8217;s 94th overall player in its Top-100, as well as a Top-10 catcher by both D1 and Softball America.<\/p>\n<p>The freshmen trio of <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/marley-teasley\/17319\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17319\" target=\"_blank\">Marley Teasley<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/mila-reddy\/17322\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17322\" target=\"_blank\">Mila Reddy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/melody-acevedo\/17317\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17317\" target=\"_blank\">Melody Acevedo<\/a> were all named to Softball America&#8217;s Big Ten Preseason Freshman Watch List. Reddy scored a run and saw action in three games.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/ryan-maddox\/17316\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17316\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Maddox<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/amira-rodriguez\/17320\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17320\" target=\"_blank\">Amira Rodriguez<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/allie-thomsen\/17321\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"17321\" target=\"_blank\">Allie Thomsen<\/a> all saw action in the circle during opening weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Maddox pitched an inning against UTSA and 2.1 innings in Washington&#8217;s loss to No. 1 Texas (Feb. 7).<\/p>\n<p>Rodriguez, Maddox and Thomsen each pitched in the Huskies&#8217; second matchup with Texas.<\/p>\n<p>WALK OFF WINNERS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nDuring opening weekend in San Antonio, the Huskies earned their first Top-10 win of the season, thanks to a walk-off single from <a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/jadyn-glab\/16241\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16241\" target=\"_blank\">Jadyn Glab<\/a> to win it 3-2 over No. 9 Nebraska.<\/p>\n<p>This was Washington&#8217;s first Top-10 win since defeating No. 8 Oregon 4-3 on March 16, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>OPENING WEEKEND HIGHLIGHTS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWashington went 2-3 at the UTSA Invitational, picking up a 17-0 win over UTSA and a walk-off 3-2 win over No. 9 Nebraska. The Huskies lost their opening game to the Huskers 5-8 and dropped both to top-ranked Texas by scores of 6-11 and 0-5.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/alexis-deboer\/16270\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16270\" target=\"_blank\">Alexis DeBoer<\/a> hit a .462 average in the opening five games of the season, while also recording a 1.231 slugging percentage and .611 on-base percentage. She scored three home runs and 4 RBI while notching a perfect fielding percentage at first base.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/ava-carroll\/16266\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16266\" target=\"_blank\">Ava Carroll<\/a> had a strong opening weekend for Washington as well, batting .438 with five runs and seven hits in a team-high 16 at-bats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/giselle-alvarez\/16238\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16238\" target=\"_blank\">Giselle Alvarez<\/a> hit .267 opening weekend, registering five runs, four hits and five RBI while playing primarily at third base for the Huskies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gohuskies.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/gabi-toney\/16273\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"16273\" target=\"_blank\">Gabi Toney<\/a> hit two dingers in the opening game of the season against No. 9 Nebraska, her second and third career home runs. On the weekend, Toney played in all five games and started in four, scoring four runs and four RBI.<\/p>\n<p>STARTING OFF STRONG \u2013 OPENING WEEKEND<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nDating back to 2014, the Huskies are 52-11 during opening weekend. In 2025, Washington went 2-3 at the Candrea Classic in Tucson, Ariz. In 2024, UW went 3-1 in the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone coming against the Oklahoma Sooners in extra innings. In 2023, UW also went 3-1 with their lone loss coming against the Sooners, 4-5.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nPrior to that, Washington went undefeated the previous three seasons over opening weekend (2022, 2021, &amp; 2020).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSCHEDULE STRENGTH<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWashington has a tough schedule ahead with eight teams in ESPN&#8217;s preseason poll. In opening weekend alone, the Huskies faced two Top-10 teams in Texas (No. 1) and Nebraska (No. 9).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Dawgs face two more Top-25 opponents this weekend at Mary Nutter, playing No. 4 Oklahoma and No. 22 South Carolina<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nROAD TRIPPIN&#8217;<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Huskies start off 2026 with four straight weekends on the road. Washington opened the season at the UTSA Invitational in San Antonio (Feb. 6-8). UW then has a three-game series at Fresno State with single games against San Jose State and Santa Clara. In the third week, the Dawgs will compete in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City against South Carolina, Saint Mary&#8217;s, Auburn, BYU, Oklahoma and LMU (Feb. 19-22).<\/p>\n<p>For the fourth week of the season (and third straight weekend in California), the Huskies will compete in San Diego, including two games against San Diego State, two vs. Cal Poly and one vs. CSUN.<\/p>\n<p>HOME AT LAST<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAfter four straight weekends on the road to start the season, the Huskies will finally welcome fans to Husky Softball Stadium on Tuesday, March 3 with a midweek matchup against Seattle U. The Huskies were No. 17 in the nation in average attendance in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>NEW YEAR, SAME B1G THINGS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe 2026 season marks the second for Washington as a member of the Big Ten Conference. On Aug. 2, 2024, the Huskies became official members of the Big Ten along with UCLA, USC and Oregon.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Dawgs concluded their inaugural season in the B1G with a 12-9 record and a 7th place finish. Washington lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament in 2025 to Indiana, 0-2.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE GAMECOCKS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSouth Carolina is 7-2 on the season, with their two losses coming at the hands of No. 19 Virginia Tech in two of the first three games of the season.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Gamecocks went 4-0 last weekend while hosting the Carolina Classic and have won six straight.<\/p>\n<p>ALL-TIME VS. SOUTH CAROLINA<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nWashington is 6-4 all-time against the Gamecocks, playing all 10 matchups at neutral sites. The two teams last met in 2020, a 5-4 Husky win. UW has won the last three games.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSCOUTING THE GAELS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSaint Mary&#8217;s is 5-3 on the season, most recently sweeping CSUN in a three-game series at home.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nALL-TIME VS. SAINT MARY&#8217;S<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Huskies are 8-0 against Saint Mary&#8217;s and most recently defeated the Gaels 3-2 in 2020. Aside from the two runs in that 2020 matchup, Washington has given up just one run in the other seven against Saint Mary&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE TIGERS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nAuburn is 9-2 on the season and has won six straight games. The Tigers won all five of their games last week as they hosted the War Eagle Classic, besting, Illinois, Bradley twice, Campbell and Binghamton.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nALL-TIME VS. AUBURN<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe two teams haven&#8217;t faced off since 2019, and the Huskies are 5-0 all-time in the series. The most recent matchup was an 8-6 Husky win on March 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE COUGARS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nBYU is 1-8 on the season with its lone win being an 8-5 victory over Notre Dame.<\/p>\n<p>ALL-TIME VS. BYU<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Huskies are 10-4 all-time against the Cougars but lost the most recent matchup last season a 3-1 BYU win in the opening game of the Mary Nutter Classic.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING THE SOONERS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Sooners are 8-1 on the season with their lone loss coming at the hands of No. 17\/18 Arizona in the opening game of the Candrea Classic. Oklahoma lost 6-11 in that first game and then went on to win the series, including a 21-3 victory in game two.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth-ranked Sooners finished one run shy of a single-game program record, beating UTEP 34-0.<\/p>\n<p>ALL-TIME VS. OKLAHOMA<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Dawgs are 15-16 all-time against Oklahoma with the Sooners taking the last four matchups. The last time these two teams played was in 2024 during opening weekend at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge, with the No. 1 Sooner defeating the Huskies 4-3 in eight innings.<\/p>\n<p>SCOUTING LMU<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nThe Lions are 10-1 in 2026, with their lone loss being a 3-4 margin to Utah. LMU has won eight straight, most recently shutting out Hawaii 6-0.<\/p>\n<p>ALL-TIME VS.
