LOS GATOS \u2013 A California Department of Transportation worker was injured late Wednesday morning when he was hit by a driver on Highway 17, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The incident happened around 11:45 a.m. north of Redwood Estates, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Ross Lee.<\/p>\n
Lee said a two-person inspection team from Caltrans headquarters in Sacramento was working on the right shoulder of northbound Highway 17 when a 2016 Jeep veered off the roadway and hit one of them. The impact knocked him down an embankment.<\/p>\n
The worker was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries and is expected to survive.<\/p>\n
The incident is under investigation, but the CHP does not believe alcohol or drugs were factors.<\/p>\n
One lane of northbound Highway 17 was closed for about two hours, according to Lee.<\/p>\n
