A person was killed after sheriff\u2019s deputies opened fire during a traffic stop in San Marcos on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n
Deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a traffic stop at 9:03 p.m. at Twin Oaks Valley Road and Borden Road when, due to reasons unknown at this time, shots were fired about 10 to 15 minutes later, according to the SDSO. <\/p>\n
Deputies alerted people in San Marcos to avoid the area of Twin Oaks Valley and Borden roads. There is no danger to the community, SDSO wrote on X. <\/p>\n
Footage NBC 7 obtained from the scene showed several bullet holes pierced through the left side door of a red sedan and several law enforcement vehicles around the car.<\/p>\n
No deputies were injured during the incident, SDSO said.<\/p>\n
The San Diego Police Department took over the investigation of the shooting. The SDPD investigates shootings involving personnel with the SDSO under terms of a countywide agreement designed to prevent conflicts of interest.<\/p>\n
