(KBAK\/KBFX) \u2014 A man was sentenced to 32 months in state prison after entering a no contest plea for threatening a Kern County supervisor.<\/p>\n<p>Kern County District Attorney\u2019s Office said on January 16, 2026, Parish Buzzard entered a no contest plea to one count of criminal threats. Buzzard also admitted to a prior strike conviction out of Fresno County for criminal threats, making him eligible for an elevated sentence.<\/p>\n<p>Buzzard\u2019s conviction stems from a <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/man-accused-of-threats-to-kern-county-supervisor-deemed-incompetent-for-trial-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">series of threatening emails directed at Kern County Supervisor Jeff Flores.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/man-accused-of-threats-to-kern-county-supervisor-deemed-incompetent-for-trial-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Man accused of threats to Kern County supervisor deemed incompetent for trial<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On February 18, 2026, Buzzard was sentenced to serve 32 months in state prison.<\/p>\n<p>On March 18, 2025, the Kern County Sheriff&#8217;s Office was made aware of a threatening email sent to the Kern County Board of Supervisor Jeff Flores\u2019 District 3 email. The investigation found that Buzzard, an unknown individual to Flores, had sent over 70 emails directed at Supervisor Flores.<\/p>\n<p>The DA\u2019s office said among the emails, Parrish threatened \u201cbash\u201d Flores\u2019 \u201cbrains in\u201d followed by \u201cGive me my f****** money\u201d as well as \u201cI\u2019m going to open fire on your hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The emails contained racial slurs, with multiple emails containing photos of various weapons, according to the DA\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/bakersfieldnow.com\/news\/local\/kcso-61-year-old-man-arrested-for-threatening-kern-county-board-of-supervisors-member-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">KCSO: 61-year-old man arrested for threatening Kern County Board of Supervisors member<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Parrish was taken into custody on March 26, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>District Attorney Cynthia Zimmer commented by saying, \u201cThe first amendment ensures that public officials are subject to scrutiny and critique, but criminal laws demand that they are not subjected to criminal threats. Efforts to influence public policy through intimidation and violence are forms of domestic terrorism that neither America in general, nor Kern County in particular, will tolerate.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"BAKERSFIELD, Calif.
