To christen their new space, known as BAMBU Pharm, they held a series of activations, including their inaugural BAMBU Sessions<\/a> event.<\/p>\n

The first jam session\u2019s participants included Teao Sense, jo love\/speak cruz, Nikila Badua aka \u201cMamaWisdom1,\u201d Gina Madrid, Sami See, Gema Cantu, Persia Blackwell, Seiji Oda, Aya Eid, Santos S.O.U.L., Marcos Odara, poko d., and JT Teodoro.<\/p>\n

Recalling the night with its live percussion, multiple string instruments and jazzy saxophone, San Jose\u2019s veteran lyricist MC Persia<\/a> says the vibe was so good, she was compelled to spit a few bars.<\/p>\n

A rapper since her early teenage years, MC Persia began to experience \u201cbrain fog\u201d in her late 30s, causing her to work more behind the scenes. Audiopharmacy\u2019s events have aided her ambition to continue performing.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the past decade, every time I\u2019ve stepped back on a stage it\u2019s been because of Audiopharmacy,\u201d she tells me. \u201cWhat they are building isn\u2019t just an event. It\u2019s medicine. Every time I stand in it, I\u2019m reminded why I started in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n

That medicine extends beyond the music. \u201cWe\u2019re generally raising funds for all the different things that we do,\u201d says Sense, adding that the group regularly hosts workshops, ranging from Qigong to boxing.<\/p>\n
