{"id":186414,"date":"2026-02-20T19:06:11","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T19:06:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/186414\/"},"modified":"2026-02-20T19:06:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T19:06:11","slug":"foods-co-on-west-shaw-avenue-closing-in-mid-march","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/186414\/","title":{"rendered":"Foods Co. on West Shaw Avenue closing in mid-March"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/shop.foodsco.net\/\">Foods Co.<\/a> on West Shaw Avenue is closing.<\/p>\n<p>The grocery store next to Kohl\u2019s between Brawley and Marty avenues is scheduled to shut down in mid-March.<\/p>\n<p>No exact date has been set, according to a spokesperson from Foods Co.\u2019s parent company, The Kroger Co., which also owns Ralphs, some Food 4 Less stores and other supermarkets.<\/p>\n<p>He did not say why the store is closing.<\/p>\n<p>But Kroger is in the process of closing 60 underperforming stores nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Cincinnati-based grocery store is considered the largest traditional grocer nationwide. In June, it announced <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/56873\/000110465925060909\/tm2518164d1_ex99-1.htm\">plans to close the 60 stores<\/a> over the next 18 months.<\/p>\n<p>The company still has two other Foods Co. stores in Fresno, and several more in the central San Joaquin Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Employees will be given the chance to transfer to another store.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson did not say if any additional local Foods Co. stores would close.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are equally dedicated to continuing to provide our customers with fresh, affordable food at our other FoodsCo locations,\u201d he said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>The Food 4 Less stores in the Fresno area are owned by a separate company.<\/p>\n<p>The Foods Co. on West Shaw faces heavy competition nearby.
