Surveillance video captured a brazen overnight burglary in Anaheim this week in which thieves broke into a neighboring business, tunneled through a wall and stole roughly $180,000 worth of Pok\u00e9mon cards, police said.<\/p>\n

The break-in happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday into early Wednesday morning at DOWE Collectibles in the 1100 block of North Harbor Boulevard, according to the Anaheim Police Department.<\/p>\n

Investigators say four suspects first forced their way into a nearby insurance office before smashing through a shared drywall with a sledgehammer to access the collectibles store next door.<\/p>\n

Video obtained by KTLA shows multiple suspects moving quickly inside the shop, targeting display cases filled with high-value trading cards before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan, police said.<\/p>\n

Store owner Duy Pham said he was asleep at home in Corona when his phone alerted him to the break-in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI clicked on the footage and saw guys coming through the hole,\u201d Pham said. \u201cMy heart was pounding. I called 911 right away and rushed over here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pham said the suspects appeared to know exactly what they were looking for and ignored electronics and other valuables, focusing only on collectible cards.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey didn\u2019t touch our computers or cameras,\u201d he said. \u201cThey were here for the cards.\u201d<\/p>\n

The thieves were inside for only about five to seven minutes, according to Pham, but managed to clear out display cases and steal more than 500 cards \u2014 some individually worth thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n

Pok\u00e9mon cards have surged in value in recent years as collectors and investors treat rare cards as alternative assets, making specialty shops increasingly attractive targets, Pham said.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne card can be worth up to $10,000,\u201d he explained. \u201cPeople see the money is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pham said break-ins and robberies tied to trading cards have become more common, leaving store owners feeling vulnerable despite security upgrades.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe kind of expected something like this sooner or later,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you\u2019re in this business, you feel like you have a target on your back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police confirmed detectives are following leads in the case. No arrests have been announced.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
