NORTHRIDGE,\u00a0Calif.\u00a0— CSUN (4-1) rolled to a 7-0 sweep over San Jose State on Thursday afternoon at the Matador Tennis Complex, improving to 4-1 on the season.

\nThe Matadors won the first two doubles matches to secure the doubles point and only dropped one set in all six singles matches to claim victory.
\n\u00a0
\nHOW IT HAPPENED
\nCSUN grabbed the early advantage by taking the first two doubles matches. The tandem of Emma Moratalla Sanz<\/a> and Sandra Arguelles posted a 7-5 win over Tara Mihaljevic and Camila Celis at Court\u00a0No. 2\u00a0for the first half point. The next half point would be won when Madison Shepperson<\/a> and Satsuki Ishikawa<\/a> defeated Soledad Capilla and Cristina Losada at Court\u00a0No. 3\u00a0by a score of 6-4.

\nSINGLES
\nIn singles play, the Matadors continued to control the match. Nicole West<\/a> was first off the court with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Soledad Capilla at Court No. 2 to give the Matadors a 2-0 lead.
\n\u00a0
\nSofia Dermenjyan<\/a> followed with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Celis at Court No. 5 to extend the lead to 3-0.
\n\u00a0
\nDermenjyan commented on today’s performance,\u00a0“I’m incredibly proud of all of my teammates today. We fought hard and had good energy that carried out across all courts. In my match, I felt I had a clear game plan in mind and was able to execute.”
\n\u00a0
\nAngela Ho<\/a> added a 6-3, 6-4 triumph over Duru Durgun at the top spot. Ho now remains undefeated in singles play at 5-0 to begin the year. The win by Ho clinched the victory for the Matadors.

\nCourt No. 3 brought the fans the closest matchup of the day. Moratalla Sanz rallied for a 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 win over Emma Fantousis in the lone three-set contest of the day. That victory made it a 5-0 game.

\nTallia Harper<\/a> outlasted Mihaljevic 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) at Court No. 4, and Shepperson closed the sweep with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Losada at Court No. 6.

\nShepperson added her thoughts on today’s team performance, “It felt really good playing well and getting the win in both doubles and singles. I was extremely happy and proud with how the rest of the team played. \u00a0We plan on keeping that intensity and energy for the next match.”

\n\tCSUN has now won three consecutive matches by a score of 7-0 and it is the fourth time this has happened out of five duals.
\n\tMoratalla Sanz and Shepperson remain undefeated\u00a0at 4-0 and 3-0, respectively, in\u00a0singles play.
\n\tHarper has won three singles matches in a row.
\n\tThe doubles team of Ishikawa and Shepperson are now 2-0.
\n\tSan Jose State was 4-0 entering today’s contest as the Matadors handed the Spartans their first defeat. <\/p>\n
