FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 The 22nd annual St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway is officially underway.<\/p>\n

Justin spent time with Fresno Unified School District Superintendent Misty Her, who is also Chairwoman of the Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway.<\/p>\n
“As a school district, our families deal with a lot of stress and a lot of illnesses, and the work that St. Jude does directly impacts our families,” said Her. “A lot of our kids benefit from this, and so that was really motivating for me and just, you know, all the things that they do. Everything that our students can benefit from this, our families, and I mean for families, this is really heavy. And so to think through about not having to make any payments, not having to worry about their travel and what’s going to happen to their child.”<\/p>\n
That’s really what drew me to the mission and, and I know that.<\/p>\n
“When I was first asked to be the chairwoman of this, it, it’s a little personal for me because I actually had a brother who passed away from leukemia and I really felt like it was something that was compelling for me,” said Her.<\/p>\n
It was something that I wish that my family had at the time when we were going through it.<\/p>\n
