In game one, Oakland rallied with a three-run fifth inning, narrowing the gap, but Southern Indiana&#8217;s four-run fourth inning and two insurance runs in the seventh secured its victory. By the afternoon&#8217;s second game,\u00a0Oakland took an early lead with two runs in the first inning but struggled to contain Southern Indiana&#8217;s offense, which erupted for eight runs in the third inning.<\/p>\n<p>GAME ONE<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nSouthern Indiana took an early lead in the first inning, capitalizing on a fielding error and a subsequent RBI single. before adding another run in the second.<\/p>\n<p>Oakland responded in the third inning with sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/sam-patton\/12531\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12531\" target=\"_blank\">Sam Patton<\/a> finding first base on an HBP\u00a0and sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/aidan-schuck\/12525\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12525\" target=\"_blank\">Aidan Schuck<\/a> doubling down the left field line. A wild pitch allowed Patton to score, and Schuck later scored on a dropped fly.<\/p>\n<p>In the fourth inning, redshirt-senior <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jack-lux\/12519\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12519\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Lux<\/a> walked and later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Patton. Southern Indiana answered with four runs, aided by a fielder&#8217;s choice and a throwing error, pushing their lead to 8-3 by the end of the fourth.<\/p>\n<p>Oakland&#8217;s offense surged in the fifth inning. Schuck was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by redshirt-sophomore\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/lucas-day\/12510\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12510\" target=\"_blank\">Lucas Day<\/a>, followed by a two-run double from Lux that brought in fifth-year <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/kyle-revere\/12728\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12728\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Revere<\/a> and redshirt-sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/tony-konopiots\/12538\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12538\" target=\"_blank\">Tony Konopiots<\/a>, bringing the Golden Grizzlies within two runs.<\/p>\n<p>Southern Indiana extended its lead in the seventh before \u00a0Oakland managed one more run in the ninth as Patton singled and was driven home by a Konopiots single.<\/p>\n<p>Grad student <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ethan-glassman\/12529\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12529\" target=\"_blank\">Ethan Glassman<\/a> faced a challenging start, recording just one out while allowing three hits and three runs in his brief appearance. Senior <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jaxson-easterlin\/12513\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12513\" target=\"_blank\">Jaxson Easterlin<\/a> provided some stability, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing four hits with only one earned run, while picking up a strikeout.\u00a0Redshirt-junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ryan-donley\/12512\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12512\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Donley<\/a> allowed three hits and one run in 1\/3 inning of work before\u00a0freshman <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/ben-green\/12545\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12545\" target=\"_blank\">Ben Green<\/a> offered a strong relief effort, pitching four innings with only two hits and striking out one.<\/p>\n<p>GAME TWO<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nOakland opened the scoring in the first inning with a sequence of plays that began with Schuck singling through the left side and advancing on a balk. Revere followed with a single, setting up Konopiots for an RBI single that brought Schuck home. Revere scored later in the inning on a sacrifice bunt by Patton, giving the Golden Grizzlies an early 2-0 lead. The Screaming Eagles later matched with two runs in their half.<\/p>\n<p>In the third inning, the offense for the Grizzlies continued as Revere walked and scored on a double by Konopiots. Patton then singled to bring Konopiots home, adding two more runs to Oakland&#8217;s tally. However, Southern Indiana responded robustly in their half, scoring eight runs on a mix of hits and errors, pushing the lead to 10-4 through three innings.<\/p>\n<p>The Screaming Eagles extended their lead in the fifth inning. A series of plays, including a fielding error and a wild pitch, allowed Southern Indiana to score three unearned runs. This increased its advantage of nine runs over Oakland by the end of the fifth inning.<\/p>\n<p>In the sixth inning, Oakland&#8217;s pitching change brought redshirt-junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/stephen-ruhle\/12524\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12524\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Ruhle<\/a> to the mound, but Southern Indiana managed to score another run on a double, further extending its lead to run-rule in the seventh inning.<\/p>\n<p>Junior <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/jordan-dahlof\/12542\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12542\" target=\"_blank\">Jordan Dahlof<\/a> pitched 2.1\u00a0innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits, with three\u00a0walks and a strikeout across 55 pitches. Sophomore <a href=\"https:\/\/goldengrizzlies.com\/sports\/baseball\/roster\/daniel-duley\/12727\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12727\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Duley<\/a> made a brief appearance for his first time on the mound in 2026, pitching 2\/3 of an inning, surrendering one run on one\u00a0hit. Freshman Josh Rosenblit contributed two\u00a0innings of relief, giving up three\u00a0runs on one hit, before\u00a0Ruhle closed out the pitching duties with an inning of work, allowing one run on one hit from the mound.<\/p>\n<p>The Golden Grizzlies are back for the series finale in Evansville\u00a0tomorrow, Feb. 21.
