SPARTANS FACE BRONCOS ON SATURDAY:\u00a0 The San Jos\u00e9 State women\u2019s basketball team returns to the Provident Credit Union Event Center Saturday afternoon to face Boise State in an afternoon game. Boise State won the earlier meeting, 96-62, in Boise to end January. The Broncos are currently tied for second in the Mountain West standings with UNLV at 12-4 in conference play. This will be the final conference game between the schools. They have played each other as members of the Western Athletic Conference before both schools joined the Mountain West.<\/p>\n
San Jos\u00e9 State enters Wednesday\u2019s game with a 4-23 overall record and a 2-14 mark in the Mountain West. The Spartans held off Utah State Wednesday night for a 58-56 victory at home. Maya Anderson<\/a> led all scorers with 22 points, and Kaliyah Dillard<\/a> grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds in the win.<\/p>\n ABOUT BOISE STATE: The Broncos enter Saturday\u2019s game with a 21-6 overall record and 12-4 MW mark. The team enters the game with a two-game winning streak, having defeated Air Force, 70-62, Wednesday night. Anderson led all scorers with 22 points, her third game this season scoring 20 or more points. Cummins added 11 points, including three made three pointers. Dillard grabbed 11 rebounds, her first double-digit rebounding game in her Spartan career. Katarina Anderson<\/a> dished out five assists and added seven points, while Stella Sgro<\/a> scored seven points and grabbed two steals.<\/p>\n BEATING THE BUZZER FOR KEY SHOTS: Against Utah State on February 18, the Spartans beat the end-of-quarter buzzer to make three pointers in two quarters. To end the first quarter, Maya Anderson<\/a> hit a three-pointer from the top of the key off an Allie Cummins<\/a> pass to score as the buzzer sounded to give SJSU a 13-10 lead. Cummins then returned the favor, hitting a three-pointer from the right elbow off a pass from Katarina Anderson<\/a>.
