{"id":188092,"date":"2026-02-22T00:33:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T00:33:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/188092\/"},"modified":"2026-02-22T00:33:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T00:33:08","slug":"elderly-woman-hospitalized-in-critical-condition-after-fire-engulfs-home-in-long-beach-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/188092\/","title":{"rendered":"Elderly woman hospitalized in critical condition after fire engulfs home in Long Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">An elderly woman was critically injured during a second- alarm house fire early Saturday in Long Beach, authorities said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officers responded about 12:30 a.m. to assist the Long Beach Fire Department with a house fire in the 4600 block of East Goldfield Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Upon arrival, Long Beach Fire Department personnel were treating a female adult who had been found unresponsive inside the residence,&#8221; according to a police statement. &#8220;She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Firefighters dispatched to the location about 12:30 a.m. had the fire out within five minutes of their arrival, according to Capt. Jack Crabtree of the Long Beach Fire Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">One witnessed described the inferno.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;We see the front porch of the house fully involved in flames,&#8221; said the man, who declined to be publicly identified. &#8220;So my partner gets out of the car, runs toward the house, starts yelling and banging on windows, trying to wake anybody up inside of the house.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I grabbed my camera, I ran over there, I started yelling as well, banging on windows,&#8221; the man said.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The cause of the fire was under investigation.
