(FOX40.COM) \u2014 A Sacramento County Superior Court judge sentenced a man to life in prison for the 2021 murder of an ATM technician, the Sacramento County District Attorney\u2019s Office announced Friday.<\/p>\n
On June 17, 2021, as James Nguyen was working on an ATM outside a bank near the intersection of Stockton Boulevard and Florin Road, Jimmy Washington carjacked Nguyen\u2019s van, which was parked a few feet away.<\/p>\n
Despite Nguyen\u2019s attempt to stop him, Washington drove through the bank parking lot with Nguyen \u201cdangling from the driver\u2019s side window,\u201d the DA\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n
Nguyen then fell from the window and was run over as Washington drove away.<\/p>\n
According to the DA\u2019s office, Nguyen was in a vegetative state for almost nine months before he died.<\/p>\n
A jury convicted Washington of first-degree murder with the special circumstance that the murder was committed during the commission of a carjacking.<\/p>\n
