THE GAME: The Angels gave up nine runs before sending their fourth batter to the plate, on their way to a 15-2 loss to the Dodgers in their first Cactus League game of the season Saturday before a sellout crowd of 9,631 at Tempe Diablo Stadium.<\/p>\n
PITCHING REPORT: Right-hander Jos\u00e9 Soriano was charged with four runs while recording just two outs. Soriano gave up three singles, all ground balls. He walked two and struck out two. He threw 31 pitches in the first inning and was pulled with two outs. He returned to face one batter in the second. \u201cHis stuff was good,\u201d manager Kurt Suzuki said. \u201cHe gave up some ground balls with two strikes that found holes. It\u2019s one of those days where you really can\u2019t control some of that stuff. But I thought overall he looked good.\u201d \u2026 Left-hander Mitch Farris faced six hitters in the second inning and retired only one. He was charged with five runs on four hits. \u2026 Left-hander Sam Aldegheri gave up one run in 1\u2153 innings, with an infield hit leading to the run. \u2026\u00a0 Left-hander Sammy Natera Jr. gave up a run on three straight hits to begin his inning. He struck out the next three to minimize the damage. \u2026 Right-hander Najer Victor pitched a scoreless inning, averaging 97 mph with his fastball. Victor is in the minor-league camp, but he\u2019s getting some extra looks because he\u2019s prepping to pitch for Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic. \u2026 Angels minor-league right-hander Keythel Key gave up four runs in the ninth.<\/p>\n
HITTING REPORT: Jorge Soler hit a ball off the left-field fence for a double in his first plate appearance of the spring. Soler also hit a ball down the line 103 mph. Although the third baseman stopped it with a dive, Soler got an infield single. \u2026 Jo Adell came about five feet short of a two-run homer. Instead, Dodgers left fielder Teoscar Hernandez dropped the ball and Adell reached on a two-base error. \u2026 Zach Neto was successful on the Angels\u2019 first ABS challenge of the spring. A low pitch was called a strike, and Neto had it overturned. Neto still struck out in both of his at-bats. \u2026 Logan O\u2019Hoppe drove in a run with a single and was hit by a pitch.<\/p>\n
DEFENSE REPORT: Third baseman Yo\u00e1n Moncada couldn\u2019t make a play on a ball hit to his backhand side. It was ruled a double. He also made an error when he bobbled a routine ground ball.<\/p>\n
