Macklin Celebrini is taking the hockey world by storm at the 2026 Winter Olympics for Team Canada.<\/p>\n

Really, he was already taking the NHL by storm all season long with the San Jose Sharks<\/a> as a 19-year old superstar.<\/p>\n

Celebrini has the most goals in these Olympics entering Sunday’s gold medal game.<\/p>\n

Really, though, he has the chance to change hockey in San Jose.<\/p>\n

The San Francisco Standard wrote<\/a> a new feature on Celebrini during the Olympics, and two things stand out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The first is this quote, from KNBR radio’s Derek Papa:\u00a0\u201cHe\u2019s going to be the Steph Curry of hockey. He\u2019s going to be the guy we all root for. So I\u2019m rooting for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then there’s this stat:<\/p>\n

“Sharks individual game tickets sales during the NHL pause are up 47% and season ticket memberships have surged more than 400% compared with this point last season.”<\/p>\n

Yeah, people want to watch Celebrini play.<\/p>\n

He’s probably the most impressive and productive teenager in the NHL since Sidney Crosby, who was the most impressive and productive teenager in the NHL since Wayne Gretzky.<\/p>\n

Almost no one has ever done what Celebrini is doing.<\/p>\n

He’s already got his Canadian teammates at the Olympics talking about him as the soon-to-be best player in the world, too.<\/p>\n

Celebrini has certainly arrived.<\/p>\n

It took Curry until the summer of 2024 to get his first gold medal.<\/p>\n

For Celebrini, it can arrive on Sunday.<\/p>\n
