Four people were killed Saturday in a fiery single- vehicle crash in Long Beach.<\/p>\n
Officers responded at about 1:20 a.m. Saturday to a crash in the area of East Spring Street and Lakewood Boulevard, not far from Long Beach Airport, the Long Beach Police Department reported.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe preliminary investigation revealed the 2008 Honda Accord was traveling southbound on Lakewood Boulevard from Spring Street when the vehicle hit the center median curb,\u201d the LBPD said in a statement. \u201cThe vehicle lost control and hit the underpass center support wall and engulfed in flames.\u201d<\/p>\n
Firefighters found a female occupant outside of the vehicle and she died at the scene despite efforts to save her, police said.<\/p>\n
Three people were found dead inside the burned vehicle. The ages of all four crash victims were unknown, but police said they were two males and two females.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt this time, speed and impairment are being investigated as a possible factors in the collision,\u201d the LBPD stated.<\/p>\n
The car crashed into the center support wall where Lakewood Boulevard goes underneath a portion of a Long Beach Airport runway. The LBPD told ABC7 the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash to see if it revealed broader safety issues and issue a preliminary report within 30 days.<\/p>\n
