CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Long Beach State dropped its final game of the Kleberg Bank College Classic on Sunday, falling 15-2 to CSU Bakersfield at Whataburger Field. The contest marked the final game of the weekend tournament for the Dirtbags.<\/p>\n
CSU Bakersfield broke the game open early, scoring five runs in the second inning and adding four more in the fourth to build a 9-0 advantage. The Roadrunners continued to add on with three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings to extend the lead.<\/p>\n
The Dirtbags broke through in the sixth inning. Jake Evans<\/a> reached and later scored before Justin Roulston<\/a> drove in a run after being hit by a pitch. Easton Elliot<\/a> followed with an infield single to plate Matt Toomey<\/a>, accounting for Long Beach State’s two runs. Elliot finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Evans also recorded a multi-hit game and scored a run.<\/p>\n Freshman right-hander Jaxon Baker<\/a> (0-1) took the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits over 1.1 innings. Joey Iglesias<\/a> followed with two innings of relief, and the bullpen combined for 5.2 innings, highlighted by scoreless outings from Ka’imi Kahalekai<\/a> and Mason Tymick<\/a>.<\/p>\n
