SAN DIEGO \u2013 No. 22 San Diego State women\u2019s tennis welcomed No. 68 Sacramento State to the Aztec Tennis Center for a Sunday morning matchup where the Aztecs captured their fifth straight win, defeating the Hornets 5-2.<\/p>\n
San Diego State advances to 6-1 on the season while Sacramento State falls to 6-4.<\/p>\n
The Aztecs earned the doubles point as well as wins on courts two, three, four and six on their way to a 5-2 victory. Jayna Clemens<\/a> and Ninon Martinache<\/a> picked up their 11th doubles win of the season after taking court two 6-1 over Palina Saulevich and Emilija Pranyte. The duo remains perfect in dual season with a 6-0 record. No. 32 Jo-Yee Chan<\/a> and Vessa Turley<\/a> then clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Irene Riva and Lou Baudouin on court one. Gloria Alogo<\/a> and Liisa Varul<\/a> were tied 5-5 with Reese Walker and Cami Maldonado Gutierrez on court three when the point was captured.<\/p>\n Vesa Gjinaj<\/a> got the first win in singles competition, taking down Saulevich 6-1, 6-1 on court six. Clemens then added to San Diego State\u2019s lead, taking court four by a score of 6-3, 6-1 over Gutierrez.<\/p>\n Pranyte got the Hornets on the board with a win in the fifth spot where Teja Tirunelveli<\/a> was bested 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.<\/p>\n Alogo clinched the match for the Aztecs, taking down Riva 7-5, 6-2 on court two.<\/p>\n The teams opted to play the match through. Sacramento State added one more point after Walker took the top court matchup against Chan 6-7 (7-9), 6-3, 6-2.
