RANCHO SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5\/KUSI) \u2014 Three cars were engulfed in flames after a traffic accident in Rancho San Diego Sunday night, according to San Miguel Fire and Rescue.<\/p>\n

Fire officials said they responded to an incident that occurred around 8:37 p.m. on Calle Albara, which is near<\/a> Rancho San Diego Elementary School.<\/p>\n

Crews said that when they arrived at the scene, three vehicles were on fire after a car hit two parked cars.<\/p>\n

Officials said the people who were in the vehicle that caused the crash got out of the car and fled on foot to a nearby hillside.<\/p>\n

No one else was in the other vehicles, San Miguel Fire said. The fire did pose a threat to nearby vegetation.<\/p>\n

Luckily, crews were able to knock down the fire before it spread.<\/p>\n

ASTREA flew over the scene to check for any victims or hotspots, but officials said the crew did not spot anything.<\/p>\n

Calle Albara will be closed from Jamacha Road to Avenida Apolinaria as the California Highway Patrol investigates and cleans up the scene.<\/p>\n
