Inside the 2026 edition\u2019s Focus section, of emerging talent, what\u2019s new and more<\/p>\n

For Christine Messineo, Frieze\u2019s Director of the Americas, one of the most thrilling moments\u00a0of the\u00a0annual Los Angeles art fair is when the big white tent goes up.\u00a0\u201cI love to be there in the midst of that production side,\u201d she says. \u201cIt makes it real.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The staking down of the structure, she explains, marks a culmination of months of work \u2014 which kicks off just a few months after the fair closes \u2014 coming to fruition.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

From Feb. 26 to March 1<\/a>,\u00a0Frieze Los Angeles<\/a>\u00a0takes over the Santa Monica Airport with a contemporary art showcase featuring approximately 100 galleries and an array of installations, collaborations with nonprofit organizations and restaurant pop-ups.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Within the signature white tent, visitors will find presentations by both first-time participants and industry pillars, including Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Cardi\u00a0Gallery\u00a0and Taka Ishii Gallery. Additionally,\u00a0Focus\u00a0\u2014 a platform for new artistic voices overseen by Essence Harden for the third year in a row and subsidized by menswear label Stone Island<\/a> \u2014\u00a0exhibits\u00a0solo presentations from U.S.-based galleries\u00a0operating\u00a0for 12 years or less, such as\u00a0Dreamsong, Lyles & King, Sea\u00a0View\u00a0and Hannah Traore Gallery.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Notably, Messineo highlights that about half of the galleries are based in L.A., explaining that the\u00a0fairs\u2019 Los Angeles edition<\/a>\u00a0is truly a snapshot of the city and its emerging talents. She hints guests will want to take notice of the entrance art by Patrick Martinez, whose \u201cHold the Ice\u201d piece \u2014 a neon sign that reads \u201cAgua is Life; NO ICE\u201d \u2014 is on view at the Hammer Museum as part of Made in L.A. 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Although based in New York, L.A. is a special place for Christine Messineo. Not only was she a director at Hannah Hoffman gallery near MacArthur Park, Messineo led her first Frieze in L.A. back in 2022, and she now heads into Frieze L.A.\u2019s seventh edition with a reverence for the city\u2019s\u00a0resilience\u00a0and community focus.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Murmurs Gallery\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

The New York-born, Los Angeles-based artist<\/a> works primarily in sculpture to explore the ebb and flow of queerness, desire and the homoerotic. Aspiring to discover clarity and meaning within an object or material, colonial histories of the Caribbean and its diaspora flow through Lee\u2019s art.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sea View<\/a><\/p>\n

Originally opened on Sea View Lane in Mount Washington in 2022, this contemporary art gallery now finds a home in a restored Hollywood building from 1937 where four exhibition areas and pied-\u00e0-terre encourage conversations that intersect art,\u00a0design\u00a0and architecture.\u00a0<\/p>\n
