Long Beach residents can receive help with filing their taxes during a free event this weekend.<\/p>\n
The city will host a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance event for eligible residents from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Silverado Park Community Center, 1545 W. 31st St. The event will offer income tax preparation and individual tax identification number applications at no cost, according to a press release.<\/p>\n
The VITA program is available to qualifying taxpayers in Long Beach with an income level of $67,000 or less. VITA<\/a> is a nationally recognized program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service to serve individuals and families with low-to-moderate incomes, officials said.<\/p>\n Participating volunteers and organizations include the Cal State Long Beach VITA Program, U.S. Bank, Westside Long Beach Advocacy Group, Los Angeles County Consumer and Business Affairs, and Free Tax Prep Los Angeles, according to a press release.<\/p>\n Those interested in attending can make an appointment online<\/a> or call 323-909-1975.
