Many people offered donations or to support a clean up effort.\u00a0<\/p>\n\u201cI was getting emailed offers and texts, [saying] \u2018Oh, this is awful, can I help? We want to bring a bunch of people down,\u2019\u201d Warren said. \u201cI mentioned to some of the church leaders, I\u2019ve got friends that feel helpless and would like to come and help.\u201d<\/p>\n
Warren added that another group followed the initial vandalism, blacking out the original vandalism and adding flowers. He said they might have meant well, but it hasn\u2019t made cover up any easier.<\/p>\n
\u201cIronically, the black paint is causing more issues than the light paint,\u201d Warren said. \u201cHowever well-intentioned it was, it is creating more work for the church to get rid of it.\u201d<\/p>\n
A police report has been filed for the incident. According to Warren, there\u2019s been offers from many community members to help in repainting efforts and donations.<\/p>\n
Warren also said that the church has experience cleaning up graffiti, and wants the area around the church to be nice and welcoming.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey pick up litter and they do grounds maintenance,\u201d Warren said. \u201cThey don\u2019t ask for anything in return. It\u2019s just part of being a good neighbor.\u201d<\/p>\n
