Residents in a San Francisco neighborhood are outraged after a Red Bull Formula One event<\/a> left its streets trashed and properties damaged.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople climbing onto residents\u2019 houses, standing on parked cars, wrecking trees and bushes,\u201d one Reddit user wrote<\/a>. \u201cHundreds of Lime scooters abandoned and blocking pathways, forcing people to walk in the street. People parking and blocking residents\u2019 driveways. People pissing on residents\u2019 houses and shrubs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAbsolutely atrocious behavior and horrible crowd control. Very poorly executed,\u201d the user added.<\/p>\n

The event \u2014 the\u00a0Red Bull Showrun\u00a0\u2014 took place on Saturday and drew at least 40,000 spectators<\/a>. But locals along\u00a0Marina Boulevard\u00a0were left to clean up the aftermath.<\/p>\n

Some described the event as \u201cchaos\u201d and \u201cpoorly planned.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you\u2019re from here or not, it\u2019s someone\u2019s property and someone\u2019s home,\u201d one Marina Boulevard resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told the\u00a0San Francisco Standard.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cFolks are just upset,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Red Bull Showrun\u00a0\u2014 took place on Saturday and drew at least 40,000 spectators to San Francisco. Instagram\/San_Francisco_Now<\/p>\n

Broken branches and plant pots were scattered along sidewalks, and some garage doors and windows were damaged.<\/p>\n

In videos posted to Instagram, thousands of people<\/a> could be seen crowding the area and climbing traffic and street signs<\/a> to get a better view due to the lack of tiered seating. Some even cut down branches to gain a higher vantage point.<\/p>\n

Others noted what they described as a lack of police presence.<\/p>\n

\u201cHorribly planned event,\u201d another Reddit user wrote. \u201cThey severely underestimated the amount of people and didn\u2019t pay the city for the OT for enough police presence. Why weren\u2019t there bleachers?\u201d<\/p>\n

Some said there were only two points of entry and exit at Marina Green, so crowd flow quickly became gridlocked.<\/p>\n

At one point, sections of the crowd began chanting \u201cplease turn around\u201d in an effort to ease the congestion before others ultimately exited elsewhere. Instagram\/@nitemii<\/p>\n

One attendee said attempts to leave near Fort Mason turned into a standstill as waves of people trying to enter collided with those trying to exit, forcing some to climb down onto the marina rocks to escape.<\/p>\n

At one point, sections of the crowd began chanting \u201cplease turn around\u201d in an effort to ease the congestion before others ultimately exited near the Palace of Fine Arts.<\/p>\n

The local news site reached out to the mayor\u2019s office \u2014 the mayor had suited up in F1 gear and driven a race car across the street during the event \u2014 but officials deferred comment to\u00a0Red Bull, which did not respond to requests.<\/p>\n
