Authorities say the body of a man who was apparently abducted in Tracy last week was found at Lake Berryessa. <\/p>\n
Avtar Singh, 57, was reported missing on Feb. 17, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office says, from the Sikh temple in Tracy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Surveillance video reviewed by detectives showed Singh being put into a white SUV, apparently against his will, by three unidentified people earlier that day.<\/p>\n
The sheriff’s office says detectives believe Singh wasn’t the original target of the suspects.<\/p>\n
“They were looking for another subject, it appears, and when he did not give them the answers they were looking for, apparently that’s why they grabbed him for some reason and took him instead,” San Joaquin Sheriff Patrick Withrow said.<\/p>\n
Then, on Feb. 20, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office alerted that a body had been found near Lake Berryessa matching the description of Singh. <\/p>\n
The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office has since confirmed that the body was indeed that of Singh’s. <\/p>\n
No cause of death has been released by authorities at this time, but detectives noted that the incident appeared to be isolated and there was no threat to the public. <\/p>\n
Detectives have not made any arrests in connection with Singh’s death.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Singh leaves behind a wife and triplets under the age of one, the sheriff’s office says.<\/p>\n
Deep Singh, a spokesman for the Sikh temple, says Avtar Singh was there with his 1-year-old triplets at the time he was taken. When his wife showed up that evening, the babies were alone but unharmed.<\/p>\n
“He was such a nice, humble, honest person, hardworking, punctual, plus he was a very good cook,” Deep Signh said.<\/p>\n
Deep Singh said Avtar Singh and his wife got married around 17 years ago, and the temple threw a big celebration for them when they found out they were expecting the triplets.<\/p>\n
