Since 1909, when it moved to its third location, the restaurant had attracted tourists and anyone else willing to pay for one of the best views in the city. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-block article-body text-left\">Alexander Leff, the operator selected by the parks service, has rights to the space, though he\u2019ll need to pay a fee to the nonprofit Western Neighborhoods Project for permission to use the Cliff House name. Leff <a href=\"https:\/\/sfstandard.com\/2025\/09\/20\/future-cliff-house-precipice\/\" data-post-id=\"ebfad14f-8313-4924-8ba4-43a81b5c7ef6\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told The Standard<\/a> in September that although it will take at least $10 million to renovate the property, he plans to open the first of three restaurants there this year. But the billionaire founder of Chobani yogurt bought the company less than a year later, sparking hopes of a rebirth.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-block article-body text-left\">In December, members of Chobani CEO Hamdi Ulukaya\u2019s team <a href=\"https:\/\/sfstandard.com\/2025\/12\/05\/anchor-brewing-san-francisco-steam-beer\/\" data-post-id=\"09000c90-1926-4580-b3ea-83a32be1aa5a\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told The Standard<\/a> they still plan to reopen the facility, which includes a brewhouse and taproom, but did not provide a timeline. They did not respond to a more recent inquiry.\u00a0 The Anchor Brewing website says it\u2019s a \u201cwork in progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph-block article-body text-left\">Then there\u2019s Jollibee. The Filipino fast-food chain has been surprisingly slow-moving when it comes to opening on Market Street, its first and only outpost in San Francisco. The appearance of signage on the Mid-Market retail space last summer was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfchronicle.com\/food\/restaurants\/article\/jollibee-market-street-san-francisco-20804961.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">treated like a major breakthrough, (opens in new tab)<\/a> but things have been quiet for months.
