Howard Community College will proudly host the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Girls and Boys Basketball County Championship Games tonight in the Kahlert Foundation Complex beginning at 5:00 p.m. This is a significant milestone for our campus and athletics program, and we want to make sure students and employees are prepared for what will be an exciting, high-energy evening with large crowds for both events.<\/p>\n

Girls Championship
Oakland Mills High School (16-4) vs. Reservoir High School (16-4)
Tip-Off: 5:00 p.m. | Doors Open: 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Boys Championship
Marriotts Ridge High School (18-2) vs. Oakland Mills High School (19-2)
Tip-Off: 7:30 p.m. | Doors Open: 7:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Both games will be broadcast live on the HCC Athletics YouTube channel<\/a><\/p>\n

ADMISSION<\/p>\n

Tickets are $4.00 + a $1.00 GoFan fee and are available online<\/a>. Please note:<\/p>\n

\u2022 A separate ticket is required for each game \u2014 tickets are not transferable between games<\/p>\n

\u2022 Capacity is capped at 800 per event \u2014 purchase early to secure your spot<\/p>\n

\u2022 All HCPSS school system policies and procedures apply<\/p>\n

\u2022 No backpacks will be permitted inside the gymnasium<\/p>\n

\u2022 Doors open 30 minutes before each game time; early arrival is strongly encouraged<\/p>\n

EXPECTED TRAFFIC DENSITY<\/p>\n

In anticipation of capacity crowds for both games, the main campus will experience significantly higher-than-normal traffic throughout the afternoon and evening. If you are a student or employee on campus today, please keep the following in mind:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Allow extra time for parking and travel \u2014 lots near the Kahlert Complex, Hickory Ridge, and the West Garage are expected to fill quickly, particularly ahead of the 5:00 p.m. tip-off<\/p>\n

\u2022 If your schedule permits, consider departing campus before 4:00 p.m. or after 9:30 p.m. to avoid peak congestion<\/p>\n

\u2022 Follow the direction of HCC Public Safety personnel who will be stationed throughout campus to assist with traffic flow<\/p>\n

\u2022 If you are attending either game, carpooling is strongly encouraged<\/p>\n

We are grateful to HCPSS leaders, particularly Athletic Director Adam Eldridge, for bringing these games to our community. We also thank HCC Associate Vice Presidents Mike Smelkinson (Athletics), Mike Popp (Facilities), and Chief Douglass Morency (Public Safety) and their teams for preparing the campus for this historic event.<\/p>\n
