The Calgary Wranglers return to home ice after four games on the road. Last week, they played three of those four and picked up wins in all three. One of those meetings was against the same opponent they face on Tuesday and Wednesday, the San Jose Barracuda. In six games against San Jose, the Wranglers have only been victorious in one. Now, they have a chance to pick up two more wins to wrap up the season series.<\/p>\n

Notes and expectations<\/p>\n

Since their last game on Saturday, the Wranglers have called up Ryan Chyzowski from the Rapid City Rush. Last week, they were without forwards Dryden Hunt and Alex Gallant and an injury to Carter King in their last match-up may keep him out of the lineup too. Chyzowski comes to the Wranglers with 70 games of AHL experience between the Manitoba Moose and Toronto Marlies. He has yet to play a game with the Wranglers but has 37 points consisting of 22 goals and 15 assists in 49 games with the Rush this season. If he slots into the lineup, he will be wearing number 27.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also announced on Monday was an award for William Stromgren. He was named as the AHL\u2019s player of the week <\/a>with his three goal and three assist performance last week. His +\/- also finished at +6 for the week. Stromgren felt Saturday\u2019s win was extra special considering their record against the Barracuda, especially winning in overtime in a rival\u2019s barn. The goal that won the game for Calgary came off a breakaway from Stromgren.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As far as the rest of the team goes, there have been some great responses to the adversity Calgary has faced to start 2026. Even in their losses, they were trending in the right direction and some line shifting has shown its effectiveness. Captain Clark Bishop reflected on the plan going into this next week of hockey and said:<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to play our game the way we\u2019ve been playing it the last few games. In the way we know we can play and that\u2019s when we win hockey games. We can\u2019t change anything. Get too high and get too loose out there because that\u2019s when bad things happen and it usually goes to the back of the net. So, when we\u2019re all on the same page, we\u2019re playing a simple hockey game out there, that\u2019s when we\u2019re at our best.\u201d<\/p>\n

This series starts on Tuesday and continues for a back to back on Wednesday. Both games have a 7:00 p.m. MT start time.
