SAN FRANCISCO – A popular, fast-growing chain, known for its chicken-tender meals, is poised to land at one of the Bay Area\u2019s biggest tourist draws.<\/p>\n
Raising Cane\u2019s has its sights on a new location in the heart of San Francisco\u2019s historic Fisherman\u2019s Wharf<\/a>.<\/p>\n Heart of Fisherman’s Wharf <\/p>\n What we know:<\/p>\n The Louisiana-based chain has filed permits for the space at 211 Jefferson Street at Taylor Street, according to Fisherman’s Wharf Community Benefit District<\/a> Director of Communications Cecile Gregoire.<\/p>\n “The arrival of Raising Cane\u2019s is another exciting sign of the momentum we\u2019re seeing in the Wharf,”\u00a0Gregoire shared with KTVU.<\/p>\n Big picture view:<\/p>\n The neighborhood, a world renowned tourist destination, has been undergoing revitalization efforts to draw more visitors and bring upgrades to the area as part of a post-pandemic comeback.<\/p>\n SEE ALSO: Fisherman’s Wharf facelift plans means Alioto’s gets bulldozed<\/a><\/p>\n The Raising Cane\u2019s would be about a block away from another recent high-profile restaurant chain opening. Last month, a Taco Bell Cantina<\/a>, at 333 Jefferson Street, elicited much excitement and attracted long lines at its grand opening event.\u00a0<\/p>\n Other new openings\u00a0 <\/p>\n The new Cane\u2019s would also be right down the street from another newcomer to Fisherman\u2019s Wharf: Tamago Sushi opened earlier this month at 2700 Taylor Street.<\/p>\n The restaurant features the trendy concept of a conveyor belt or sushi-go-around. It offers customers dishes on a rotating belt, with meals delivered on a bullet train-shaped platter, providing a fun and interactive dining experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n On Yelp, Tamago<\/a> said it combines “advanced technology, premium ingredients, and affordable prices.”<\/p>\n Raising Cane’s Bay Area expansion <\/p>\n Dig deeper:<\/p>\n A new Raising Cane’s at Fisherman’s Wharf would contribute to the ongoing expansion of the chain’s presence in the Bay Area.\u00a0<\/p>\n In November, Cane’s opened a restaurant in Morgan Hill, bringing the total number of Bay Area sites to seven.<\/p>\n And another South Bay location is set for a March 3 grand opening, according to the company’s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n That restaurant is opening at North Capitol Avenue and McKee Road and will be the second location in San Jose.<\/p>\n KTVU previously reported<\/a> that the chain is planning to open its first San Francisco restaurant this year. Construction is underway for the Cane’s at Stonestown Galleria.<\/p>\n “We anticipate opening later this fall should everything go to plan,” a Raising Cane\u2019s representative told KTVU in an email correspondence.<\/p>\n And in the East Bay, plans are also underway for a Cane’s near the UC Berkeley campus on Telegraph Avenue, expected sometime late 2027.<\/p>\n What’s next:<\/p>\n As for the upcoming opening of the Fisherman\u2019s Wharf location, the company’s rep said construction was set to begin next month, with the restaurant expected to open its doors later this summer or early fall.\u00a0<\/p>\n The plan to revitalize San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf was presented to the public at the city’s Port Commission.
