The Anaheim Ducks<\/a> are getting good and bad news as they prepare to begin the post-Olympics portion of their schedule against the Edmonton Oilers<\/a> on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

On the positive side, top-line center Leo Carlsson will return to Anaheim\u2019s lineup on Wednesday after he missed the Ducks\u2019 last 11 games prior to the Olympic break with a lower-body injury. Carlsson\u2019s injury also kept him out of the Olympics, as he was initially named to the Swedish men\u2019s roster<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The bad news, however, is that forward Mikael Granlund will miss Wednesday\u2019s game with an upper-body injury.<\/p>\n

Mikael Granlund is out with an upper-body injury, per Quenneville. Said Granlund is expected to skate tomorrow and could be an option for Friday\u2019s game against Winnipeg.<\/p>\n

Carlsson, 21, has 18 goals and 26 assists for 44 points<\/a> in 44 games played this season. He is the only player on the Ducks scoring at or better than a point-per-game clip. <\/p>\n

Now in his third NHL season, Carlsson is having a breakout campaign. The 2023 second-overall pick had 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points in 76 games last season. In his rookie season of 2023-24, he had 12 goals and 17 assists for 29 points in 55 games. <\/p>\n

Granlund, 33, appeared to suffer his injury during the men\u2019s Olympic bronze medal game on February 21st. Granlund served as Finland\u2019s captain in the tournament, and won bronze after the Finland defeated Slovakia 6-1. Granlund had two goals and an assist for three points in six games in the Olympics.<\/p>\n

In 38 games played for the Ducks this season, the veteran has 12 goals and 15 assists for 27 points. He is in the first season of a three-year, $21 million deal with Anaheim.<\/p>\n

The Ducks enter the post-Olympics stretch run of the season with 63 points through 56 games, currently holding onto the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.<\/p>\n
