FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) \u2014 The Fresno Police Department is investigating a homicide after an elderly man was found dead inside his apartment earlier this month. <\/p>\n
Officers responded around 1:59 p.m. on Feb. 12 to an apartment complex near First Street and Dayton Avenue for a welfare check on 72-year-old Leon Conway. <\/p>\n
Neighbors told police they had not seen or heard from Conway for several days. <\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they forced their way into the apartment, where Conway was found dead. <\/p>\n
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. <\/p>\n
An autopsy later determined Conway suffered blunt force trauma to his body, and his death was ruled a homicide. <\/p>\n
Detectives say Conway lived alone but often allowed different individuals to come and go from his residence. <\/p>\n
Investigators believe Conway may have been involved in an argument with one of those individuals, which escalated into a physical assault. <\/p>\n
Police have not announced any arrests.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to follow up on leads. <\/p>\n
