SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — BART service has been restored after a brief shutdown through the Transbay Tube and downtown San Francisco on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

The transit agency issued an alert at 8:25 a.m. Thursday about red and green line service being closed between the West Oakland and 24th Street Mission stations.<\/p>\n

BART says a computer network hardware failure is to blame for the shutdown. Crews cut over to another device in order to restore service.<\/p>\n

Service was stalled for about an hour, but that was long enough to impact a lot of people on their morning commute.<\/p>\n

We spoke with one commuter who was relieved that she arrived just after service was restored, but said she had been stuck in other BART shutdowns.<\/p>\n

“My option is just going back to Mission Street, and then just take the Muni, I guess, but no, yeah, but otherwise just wait. And luckily, it just came back,” said Daly City resident Theresa Guevarra.<\/p>\n

Guevarra also noted that BART fares keep going up despite repeated service disruptions.<\/p>\n

The BART board voted 8-1 Thursday morning on a worst-case scenario in case the agency doesn’t secure additional funding. It would involve closing some stations and reducing service, if needed.<\/p>\n
