Sierra Vista Mall<\/a> in Clovis is getting a new business in a high-profile spot: Con Azucar Caf\u00e9<\/a>.<\/p>\n The coffee shop serving Latin American-inspired drinks is taking over the space at the main entrance to the indoor portion of the mall. It\u2019s where Yan\u2019s Chinese Grill used to be, between Kohl\u2019s and a jewelry store.<\/p>\n It\u2019s the second location of the San Jose-based franchise in the Fresno area. The first is on Cesar Chavez Boulevard near Chestnut Avenue.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s not just a coffee shop to us. We have a hint of Latin culture to it,\u201d said Valeria Munoz, social media manager for the Fresno and Clovis locations and part of the family that runs the local franchises.<\/p>\n What is Con Azucar?<\/p>\n Con Azucar \u2014 which translates to \u201cWith Sugar\u201d \u2014 was founded by a group of friends who wanted to spark an interest in Mexican culture.<\/p>\n It has 30 locations either open or coming soon, mostly in California.<\/p>\n The Munoz family is remodeling the space at the Clovis mall and aiming to open this summer.<\/p>\n The Fresno location has drinks such as the popular horchata latte \u2014 the creamy Mexican drink plus a shot of espresso. There\u2019s also a Mocha Mexicano, caf\u00e9 de olla and traditional coffee drinks such as coffee and vanilla lattes.<\/p>\n Con Azucar is also the home of the concha gigante<\/a>, a giant pink pastry nearly the size of the tray it\u2019s delivered on.<\/p>\n Munoz describes it as \u201ca modern coffee shop with a hint of culture to it. We do have specific Latin drinks … but everyone is welcome to come.\u201d<\/p>\n The Fresno location is wildly colorful and made for Instagram photos. There is a Frida Kahlo mural, a swing hanging from the ceiling and an entrance to the restrooms that looks like a refrigerator door.<\/p>\n \u201cThe one in Clovis is going to be a little more on the neutral side,\u201d maybe with some warmer tones, Munoz said.<\/p>\n This location also has a bigger kitchen, so it may offer more food than the pan dulce, other pastries and toasts at the existing location. Although the Fresno location is connected to a La Michoacana Plus<\/a> Ice Cream Parlor that the Munoz family also owns, the Clovis location will not have one.<\/p>\n The family chose Clovis for its second location because they live there and people have been asking for it.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Sierra Vista is a great location,\u201d Munoz said. \u201cIt has a lot of potential.\u201d<\/p>\n Con Azucar Caf\u00e9, famous on social media for its huge Mexican concha pan dulce, is moving into a highly visible location at Sierra Vista Mall’s main entrance.
