Body found near lake in Oakland Co. identified, police now investigating case as homicide<\/a><\/p>\n19-year-old Andre Sontay Avant Jr. was found dead in Commerce Township near the Proud Lake boat launch on Wixom Road.<\/p>\n
Now, two other 19-year-olds are being held in jail without bond after being arraigned for allegedly using a firearm in the commission of a felony in the slaying Avant.<\/p>\n
Dshaun Omar Hatton-Street of Romulus and Stephan Larryl Shaw of Taylor were arrested on open murder charges.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the moment this young man was discovered, our team was committed to uncovering the truth,\u201d Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. \u201cIn just over a week, our team developed the information needed to make these arrests. I am proud of their work and their dedication to ensuring those responsible are brought before the court and held accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office alleges that the suspects and the victim all knew each other, but none had any connection to the area where the crime occurred.<\/p>\n
Law enforcement says that a third individual was initially also detained with the two suspects in the slaying investigation but has since been released.<\/p>\n
