Send us tips at <a href=\"https:\/\/missionlocal.org\/2026\/02\/sf-sunset-buzz-hunt-and-gather-bearing-west\/mailto:junyao@missionlocal.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">junyao@missionlocal.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When DeeDee Hunt\u2019s landlord told her that the rent for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/huntandgathersf\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hunt &amp; Gather<\/a>, the store and gallery that she has run at 1108 Irving St. for three years, was going to double, she felt hurt, and mad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI worked my butt off to get people to walk down from 9th and Irving,\u201d she said. Among her strategies: Starting the <a href=\"https:\/\/huntandgathersf.com\/inner-sunset-art-walk\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Inner Sunset Art Walk<\/a> to bring more foot traffic to her little gallery.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She\u00a0wanted to counter that feeling with an optimistic message. Photo by Junyao Yang. <\/p>\n<p>Four months later, something beautiful did happen.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been manifesting a bigger space,\u201d Hunt said. The manifesting came through and she signed a lease at the Market, the food hall below the former X headquarters at 1355 Market St.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She had hosted popups at the Market Street space, and once, more than 800 people RSVP\u2019d. \u201cPeople were calling and asking if we could open up more spaces,\u201d she recalled. \u201cThat\u2019s why I decided to pull the trigger and sign the lease.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hunt will take over a bar in the back, serving tea-based non-alcoholic drinks \u2014 what she calls \u201cbotanical elixirs\u201d \u2014\u00a0and will continue hosting seasonal art exhibits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will continue to do exactly what I was doing at Hunt &amp; Gather,\u201d said Hunt. \u201cThe goal is to continue where I left off in the Inner Sunset but at a bigger scale.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hunt &amp; Gather is planning a grand opening celebration on April 17.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"854\" height=\"640\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/two-pitchers-854x640.jpg\" alt=\"A white pickup truck is parked on the street in front of a construction site with plywood barriers and two people on the partially built structure.\" class=\"wp-image-837268\"  \/>Construction is underway at 3821 Noriega St., where the Oakland taproom Two Pitchers Brewing Company will open its first San Francisco location. Photo by Junyao Yang. <\/p>\n<p>Construction is underway at 3821 Noriega St., where the Oakland taproom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twopitchers.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Two Pitchers Brewing Company<\/a> is planning to open its first location in San Francisco, three blocks from Ocean Beach. The owners hope that it will open in the next month or two.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The taproom, which opened its Oakland location in 2021, will serve its signature radlers \u2014 a blend of beer and fruit juice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It will also feature smash burgers from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maillardssf.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maillards<\/a>, a popup that started at the Outer Sunset Farmers Market in July 2023 every Sunday, and later expanded to Tuesdays at Heritage Restaurant &amp; Bar in the Richmond.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maillards\u2019 owner, Max Ponzurick, said he hasn\u2019t decided if the popups will continue now that they will have a brick-and-mortar location at the brewery. \u201cIf we\u2019re capable, if things line up right,\u201d keeping the popups is still an option, he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Operating a brick-and-mortar five or six days a week is new territory, Ponzurick said. He worries about stretching himself too thin and not being able to make the Sunday markets himself \u2014 something he hardly misses since he started the popup two years ago.\u00a0\u201cWe take it day by day. Photo by Junyao Yang. <\/p>\n<p>Three-year-old seafood restaurant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bearingwestsf.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bearing West Bar &amp; Galley<\/a> will shutter on Taraval Street, the owners announced last week. Its last day is March 1.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the restaurant industry has presented significant challenges,\u201d the owners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/bearingwestsf\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">wrote on Instagram<\/a>, \u201cwhat we will remember most is the incredible community that supported us along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bearing West will be missed for its \u201c$2 Tuesdays\u201d ($2 oysters and sangria), and \u201cwings and whiskey Wednesdays\u201d with $1 chicken wings. She still pops into the shop every now and then to check up on him, he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He took over the space in September and renovated it so that it has more natural light and a more minimalistic design.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Among the advantages of taking over an existing flower shop: a built-in clientele. \u201cThere are people who are born and raised in this neighborhood and have only known that there\u2019s a flower shop there their entire life,\u201d Sam said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This Valentine\u2019s Day \u2014 which Sam called his own Super Bowl \u2014 was the most tiring day he has had in a long time. Photo by Junyao Yang. <\/p>\n<p>A few places we wrote about in previous Sunset Buzz are now up and running. <a href=\"https:\/\/missionlocal.org\/2025\/12\/sf-sunset-business-dec\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tokyo Cream<\/a>, a soft-serve ice cream cafe, opened at 1838 Irving St. <a href=\"https:\/\/missionlocal.org\/2025\/12\/sf-sunset-buzz-december\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tadaima<\/a>, the Japanese sando and matcha spot, opened last Sunday in the Inner Sunset, to a very long line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And don\u2019t forget: <a href=\"https:\/\/sunsetmercantilesf.com\/sunsetnightmarket2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Sunset Night Market<\/a> is this Friday.
