District 10 Supervisor Shamann Walton is teaming up with the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency and the police department to crack down on scofflaw parkers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bayview supe made the announcement<\/a> on Feb. 6 via Facebook. There will be \u201cincreased parking enforcement in our area\u201d for driveway parking, curb\/sidewalk parking, and double parking, Walton wrote. Since Feb. 9, transit cops and police officers have been out patrolling.<\/p>\n

Street parking and double parking is most common on Palou Avenue<\/a>. Parking tickets can range from $63 for parking on an incline without turning your wheels to $1,000 for obstructing traffic.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the first time since its inception in 2024, SF Music Week<\/a> is coming to Bayview.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tantum Ra, a Congolese Afropop artist will perform on Feb. 27<\/a> at the Ruth Williams Opera House. R&B sibling trio MeloDious will perform there on Feb. 28<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s silent disco meets Tiny Desk,\u201d said Theo Ellington, the interim executive director of the Opera House. Performers will play in the middle of the venue\u2019s floor, with attendees circling. Vocals and instruments will be connected to wireless headphones, delivering \u201cpristine sound\u201d to attendees, according to the event\u2019s webpage<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ellington specified that entry is donation-based, so pay what you can. Tickets are still available<\/a> for both nights.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Avenue Greenlight<\/a>, a nonprofit that provides money to merchant organizations to support community projects along commercial corridors, began power washing<\/a> Bayview\u2019s Third Street corridor on Feb. 23. Usually, power washing is done by the city\u2019s Public Works department.<\/p>\n

The project is a collaboration between the mayor\u2019s office and Avenue Greenlight, initially funded by cryptocurrency billionaire Chris Larsen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earl Shaddix, executive director of Economic Development on Third, a nonprofit that works to support businesses along the corridor, said merchants are very happy with the project so far.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Residents who are familiar with the Star Trek universe know that 2100s-era San Francisco is home to Starfleet Command HQ. As part of Go Boldly SF<\/a>, last week\u2019s citywide celebration of Star Trek\u2019s 60th anniversary, the San Francisco Public Library is offering limited-edition Star Trek library cards.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The cards are a part of an official collaboration between the Star Trek franchise and the Library. Pick one up at Bayview\u2019s Linda-Brooks Burton Library.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Also at the library: AARP tax prep<\/a>, storytime for preschoolers<\/a>, an African American mixed-media collage<\/a> workshop on Feb. 25, a Lion Dance<\/a> performance with West Coast Lion Dance on Feb. 28 and a Ramadan lantern<\/a> craft on March 1.<\/p>\n

On Feb. 28, as previously featured in Bayview Buzz, the Black History Month<\/a> bike ride will take place.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ride will begin at 9 a.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Fountain in Yerba Buena Gardens.\u00a0 Then, along the route, riders will stop at landmarks like the Museum of the African Diaspora and statues of baseball greats Willie Mays and Toni Stone. The route will follow the city\u2019s eastern waterfront down to Bayview for a block party at Smoke Soul Kitchen.<\/p>\n
