{"id":197535,"date":"2026-02-28T03:31:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T03:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/197535\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T03:31:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T03:31:10","slug":"metros-trendy-ride-the-d-t-shirts-restocked-amid-high-demand-nbc-los-angeles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ca\/197535\/","title":{"rendered":"Metro\u2019s trendy \u2018Ride the D\u2019 T-shirts restocked amid high demand \u2013 NBC Los Angeles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A buzzy T-shirt urging Angelenos to <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.metro.net\/products\/ride-the-d-heavyweight-t-shirt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cRide the D\u201d<\/a> \u2014 as in the LA Metro\u2019s D Line Extension \u2014 is selling fast online ahead of the much-anticipated debut of Section 1 of the transit milestone.<\/p>\n<p>The popular tee sold out on Friday, but the Metro raced to restore the hot item.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re sold out and are working to restock the D Line t-shirts asap,\u201d Metro Los Angeles <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/metrolosangeles\/status\/2027486099367670029\" rel=\"nofollow\">posted on X<\/a> just before 12:50 p.m. Friday. \u201cThanks for riding &amp; wearing &amp; wanting to wear!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One hour later, the Metro <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/metrolosangeles\/status\/2027516211823833260\" rel=\"nofollow\">announced on X<\/a> that the shirt was back in stock.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe first phase of the Metro D Line subway extension between Koreatown and Beverly Hills will open May 8.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>As of 3:30 p.m. Friday, the Metro\u2019s online shop showed the unisex \u201cRide the D\u201d T-shirt in stock, as well as a <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.metro.net\/products\/ride-the-d-cropped-top-shirt\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">crop top version<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The shirts are part of the Metro\u2019s bigger collection of \u201cRide The\u201d shirts highlighting the transit system\u2019s different lines; there are \u201cRide the\u201d shirts for Lines A, B, C, E, and K, too.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Metro\u2019s online shop, the \u201cRide the D\u201d design commemorates the upcoming debut of part of the D Line Extension, which the Metro dubs \u201ca historic moment bringing rail transit for the first time to this part of Wilshire Blvd.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMetro adds more stops to its A Line. Video broadcast Friday Sept. 18, 2025 on the NBC4 News at 11 a.m.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The D Line Extension\u2019s timeline<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.metro.net\/d-line-extension\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The D Line Extension<\/a> has been in the works for more than a decade.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the Metro announced its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/the-scene\/train-now-arriving-metro-reveals-the-d-line-extension-section-1-opening-date\/3854377\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opening date for Section 1<\/a> of the project: May 8, 2026, ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>Section 1 will feature a trio of new subway stations in one of the region\u2019s busiest corridors \u2014 Wilshire\/La Brea; Wilshire\/Fairfax; Wilshire\/La Cienega \u2014 connecting Beverly Hills and mid-Wilshire directly to downtown via underground rail.<\/p>\n<p>The stations serve Koreatown, Miracle Mile, Hancock Park, Carthay Circle, the Fairfax District and the gateway to Beverly Hills.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Metro, it should take between 14 and 21 minutes to travel from downtown Los Angeles to the new Section 1 stations, but final travel times will be confirmed after testing. Standard Metro fares will apply across Section 1.<\/p>\n<p>Section 2 of the D Line Extension will continue the subway west from Wilshire\/La Cienega and will add two stations at Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills and Century City, serving the Beverly Hills Golden Triangle, Century City Business District and Century City Mall. The Metro said that phase of the project is expected to debut in spring 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFormer city councilman Paul Krekorian talks about how Los Angeles to welcome the world in 2028. Lynette Romero reports for NBC4 at 8 p.m. on Feb. 22, 2026.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Section 3 of the D Line Extension will add two stations \u2014 Westwood\/UCLA and Westwood\/VA Hospital \u2014 with a goal of taking riders from DTLA to West LA in about 25 minutes.
