PLEASANTON \u2014 A San Jose man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a mother and son inside a Pleasanton home on Wednesday, Feb. 18, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The victims were identified as Lori Simonds, 67, and her son, Evan Simonds, 28, both of Pleasanton, according to the Pleasanton Police Department in a press statement.<\/p>\n
Police said detectives identified 31-year-old Allen Swadley as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest.<\/p>\n
During the late evening hours of Thursday, Feb. 19, the San Jose Police Department contacted Swadley during a traffic stop after an automated license plate reader notification.<\/p>\n
The suspect was detained without incident and later transferred into the custody of Pleasanton police.<\/p>\n
Swadley was subsequently booked at Santa Rita Jail on two counts of murder.<\/p>\n
The shooting was reported shortly after 10 a.m. Feb. 18, when Pleasanton police officers responded to reports of gunshots at a home in the 3100 block of Joanne Circle, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers entered the residence and found both victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Investigators said multiple firearms were recovered from Swadley\u2019s vehicle and residence. Police said the weapons will undergo further testing to determine whether any were used in the crime.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Swadley had a recent dating relationship with a family member of the victims and has no prior criminal history.<\/p>\n
Police also stated the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis outcome is the result of our detectives working nonstop on this case, with support from our Real-Time Information Center and allied agencies,\u201d Police Chief Tracy Avelar said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate the patience of our community as we worked through a rapidly evolving investigation, and I\u2019m proud of the work done to keep the community safe,\u201d Avelar added.<\/p>\n
