One pedestrian died at the scene and the second pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital, the Newport Beach Police Department said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver stayed at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. That individual\u2019s name was not released.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities did not specify the severity of the surviving victim\u2019s injuries.
