A 2-year-old child was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in San Francisco’s Mission Rock neighborhood Friday night, according to police.<\/p>\n
An adult who was with the child while the two were crossing in the area of Fourth and Channel streets was also hit and was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries, the San Francisco Police Department said.<\/p>\n
Officers found the two victims after responding to the scene just before 9 p.m., police said.\u00a0 First responders attempted lifesaving efforts on the child, but the victim was declared deceased at the hospital, police said.<\/p>\n

The driver who struck the two remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said, adding that drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.<\/p>\n
It was not clear by Saturday afternoon whether any arrests had been made in connection with the incident. Police declined to provide further comment, citing the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n
